The Magic Reindeer – Production Details

Length: 13 x 7 minutes

Format: 35 mm. / digi beta. All shooting will be done on 35 mm. but only 6 –7 film prints will be made for the festivals, others will be in digi-beta format.

Giron Film & Markku Lehmuskallio, Anastasia Lapsui, Finland : financial support for the pilot film & etnographical advices ; also stories from A.Lapsui

Kinefilms – Norwegian co-producer. Filmdirector and producer Kine Aune helps with the research in Lappland and will also work as dramaturgy in the series.

Norsk Film Fondet, negotiations are going on and the development application will be left 5/2004 by Kine Aune

AVEK – Centre for the development of audio-visual culture in Finland ; negotiations going on.

• Collecting of the folklore
• Forming of the key team ( director/scriptwriter, designer, main producer, animator )
• Research for the estimated studios ( Hafan Film, Prague + POEM studio / Finland )
• Ethnographical basic research
• Joint co-operations with SIIDDA & the Sámi Art Centrum in Sodankylä, Finland.

• Final scriptwriting starts
• Research trip to Norway / Kine Aune & different organisations
  Storyboard and script for the pilot , together with Markku Lehmuskallio
• Special development session with the key Czech team in Lapland together with POEM: observing of the northern light , visiting the Arctic museums, ethnographical collections and Sámi villages ( designer and cameraman )
• Designs for the pilot
• Realisation of the puppets, sets and props for the pilot

• Final development of the characters and sets
• Final development of the script with ethnographical supervisors

• First episodes are planned to be ready 10/ 2005 and the whole project is estimated to be ready at the end of 2006 – beginning of 2007.
